I want to run because...
This is an important post. I got this book Beginning Running by Amby Burfoot which I have found very inspirational so far. I read in the Amazon reviews that it is not very informative(by one customer) but I guess it doesn't matter. It contains as much knowledge as a beginner needs/can handle...What really a person like me-an out of shape beginner-needs is a lot of inspiration and encouraging words. I guess so far this book has done a good job. Anyway, I bought my shoes today and I will start running tomorrow. Based on the 24 week training program of the book I have to Run 1min, walk 2 min; and repeat this 10 times tomorrow.
I am a 4th year Ph.D. student in engineering so I have a busy schedule but I am also about 30 pounds over weight, have had PCOS for about 10 years now, and was recently informed that I have become insulin resistant...a condition that is basically a pre-diabetic stage i.e. if I don't do something today I will end up with diabetics type 2 very soon.
So, as part of my assignment I want to list my reasons that why I want to run...Hopefully I will have more and more of these reasons as I continue running but for now here is the list...I haven't thought of it before so I will type them as they come to my mind:
- I want to loose weight
- I want to look good
- I want to feel good about my body
- I want to wear whatever I like
- I want to feel happy when I look at my self in the mirror
- I want to have firm body
- I want to be an athlete
- I want to feel the joy of saying(casually):"Oh! I run a lot! That's why!"
- I want my butt to look good
- I want to not get diabetics
- I want not to have to take medication for my insulin resistant
- I want to have a lot of energy
- I want to be active
- I want to show off
- I want to feel healthy
- I want to be self-disciplined and in control
